Google search in chrome goes to google.com/blank.html

If you are using Chrome and because Chrome is the number one internet browser chance are that that is what you are using.

You will have found if you type your search term into the omnibox that instead of taking you to a lovely search page you are instead taken to http://www.google.com/blank.html and it's a blank page you are staring at.

Currently Google is working on a fix for this but in the mean time to fix it yourself all you have to do is follow these simple steps.

Step 1.

Go to your settings menu.

Step 2.

Click on 'Manage search engines'

Step 3.

Scroll to the bottom of 'Other Search Engines' and enter 'Google-temp' for the name, 'google.com' for keyword, and http://www.google.com/search?q=%s for the url

Step 4.

Find 'Google-temp' in the list of 'other search engines' and click on 'make default' and click 'OK'

Congratulations instead of Google taking you to Blank.html it will take you to the proper search page.

  1. I have the problem on Chrome. The ‘fix’ doesn’t work for me. The scroll bar is disabled on screens that load. Pulling the page width in or out produces a temporary fix for both problems. Weird!
